Overview

Poshina is a small village at the North of Gujarat, well known for it’s settlements of Tribal and Shepherd hamlets . Poshina has long been a hub of the convergence of people from various tribes, who come here for their buying and selling requirements. An unexplored beauty of Aravalis at it’s one side, the area is dominated by fields of wheat and cotton.

Poshina has also been renowned in the world for the tribal tradition of Terracota horse offerings to mountain Gods. Tens and thousands of Terracota Horses are seen lined up at sacred shrines as offerings for wishes fulfilled, from people coming from various parts of the world.

Darbargadh is the only abode amidst this tribal setting. The Property belongs to the Rao of Poshina who governed 164 villages of the area. The descendants of the Rao of Poshina opened their doors to the world with 30 rooms.

There are jeeps for excursions to visit the tribal villages and Terracota horse shrines. The family ensures that one of their members accompany the guests on these excursions.

Accommodation

Though we call our place a heritage hotel, the ambiance is that of being part of a house party at friends home. In this home away from home environment, we offer 25 rooms with period furniture and antique artifacts. Each of the rooms has recently renovated baths with western fixtures and hot showers.

The hostesses personally supervises the housekeeping and cooking, ensuring guests get the best of Rajasthani and Gujarati cuisine adapted to individual tastes. Subtly spiced for westerners, made without onion and garlic for Jains, heavily spiced for those who want it that way, and so forth. We guarantee some delicious Rajput home cooking using fresh meats and vegetables.
